Unit Patches and Markings

184TH RAC Tail Markings
The 184th RAC had two distinct tail markings while in Vietnam. The
first marking was designated by the 145th Combat Aviation Battalion in
1966 upon arrival. When the unit was made part of the 210th Combat
Aviation Battalion the marking was changed to reflect the common
markings of that Battalion.

184TH RAC Unit Patches
There were two distinct 184th RAC unit patches during the deployment
in Vietnam. The first was an Eagle, some say vulture, sitting
on top of a crossed cannon and propeller. The letters SAL
stand for Surveillance Airplane Light. This was the unit patch
from 1966 until such time, probably 1968, when the patch was
changed. The new patch was an eagle imposed upon the unit's
tail marking of an arrow. The Unit designation by that time
had been changed to RAC indicating the company as a Recon Airplane
Company.
